More than $25,000 in funding assistance was granted.

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - The Dearborn County Redevelopment Commission has provided more than $25,000 in funding assistance to the Bright Fire Department to improve fire protection in the department’s service territory.

The assistance was requested by Bright Fire Department Chief Kendall Eberhart at the Redevelopment Commission’s March 10 meeting. Chief Eberhart explained that the funding was necessary to help the department purchase new mobile radios compatible with a state-mandated update to emergency communications systems.

The full amount of requested funding of $25,160 was unanimously approved by the members of the Redevelopment Commission.

“Strong and reliable fire service is considered critical infrastructure for the people and businesses in Dearborn County. The Redevelopment Commission welcomes assistance requests from departments, utilities, and workforce partners which can help us continue to bring more jobs with higher wages to Dearborn County,” said Redevelopment Commission President Jim Deaton.

The assistance to Bright Fire Department was made possible through the Redevelopment Commission’s tax increment finance (TIF) funds generated from TIF-enabled industrial development in the I-74 West Harrison Business Park.

The Dearborn County Redevelopment Commission is comprised of community member citizen volunteers and elected officials: President Jim Deaton, Vice President Jim Mansfield, Dennis Kraus Jr., Tom Tepe, Jordan Hoffman, Trevor Bischoff, and Daryl Cutter.
