The Boone County-owned pool is wrapping up its final season.

Union Pool
(Union, Ky.) - Decades of summer memories may soon be all that remain of the Union public pool.
The Boone County Parks Department is closing the pool because it is aging and in constant need of repairs.
When the 46-year-old pool closes at the end of this summer, it will be demolished and filled in.
The news was posted on the Union Pool Facebook page Wednesday. It appeared to come as a surprise to many pool users, some of whom expressed anger at the revelation.
“Well this saddens my heart! I love bringing my girls there as you guys don't allow the horseplay that other places do and you care about the safety of others. And not to mention the price is perfect. I hope the county will reconsider!” said Tiffiney Vinup.
The county says making the necessary repairs and adding modern amenities at the Union pool would cost more than $2 million.
Barring a reversal of the closing decision, the pool’s final event will be its annual dog swim. Residents can bring their pets to enjoy a swim on Saturday, September 8 before the water is drained.
