Boone Co. Approves DHL Tax Breaks

(Hebron, Ky.) - Boone County’s Fiscal Court has approved tax incentives necessary for a planned expansion by DHL Express at the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport.

The shipping giant announced last month it would invest $46.9 million into the expansion which will create 283 new jobs – 120 full-time and 163 part-time.

The county incentive deal passed by the fiscal court Tuesday includes a 0.6 percent credit of the county occupational license fee, Fox 19 reports.

There is also a 2.25 percent personal income tax credit under the Kentucky Business Investment Program.

"Every worker and employee that lives in Boone County would pay an additional 0.5%" in payroll taxes if it weren't for DHL, Boone County Administrator Jeffrey Earlywine told the television station.

DHL’s expansion plans include a new 193,000-square-foot sorting facility. The company said it hopes to have the new warehouse operational by November.
