(Aurora, Ind.) – A painter of the rivers, lakes, and deep waters returns to unveil another original oil painting of a southeast Indiana river town. Maritime artist Michael Blaser painted “Lawrenceburg: It Was 1900 Yesterday” in 2012. That painting currently hangs in the Lawrenceburg Public Library. Blaser will be showcasing his newest work, an oil painting of the Aurora riverfront, this Friday evening, September 19 during a reception at the Dearborn Country Club. Blaser has been commissioned by local residents Doug and Marlene Denmure to paint Aurora as it would have looked in 1950s. The painting showcases a view from the river looking toward the city’s downtown, with a car ferry and other watercraft set against a backdrop of Aurora’s historic architecture and many church steeples. The painting will be donated to the Aurora Public Library District. Michael Blaser’s unveiling of the painting will be on Friday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Dearborn Country Club, located at 170 Country Club Road, off of State Road 148. Hors d’oeuvres will be served with compliments of the Dearborn County Club. An after-party will follow the reception at Woody’s Bar and Grill with dinner specials available. Attendees will be able to purchase personalized prints of Blaser’s Aurora painting.
