(Versailles, Ind.) – Indiana State Police troopers at the Versailles Post were busy patrolling highways throughout the district during the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
Sgt. Noel Houze said troopers took part in a district-wide saturation patrol on Friday and Saturday nights, March 16 and 17 between 7:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.
The blitz saw troopers write 134 traffic tickets, issue 352 warnings, make 17 criminal arrests, and arrest 15 impaired drivers.
A sobriety checkpoint set up in Dearborn County between midnight and 2:00 a.m. Sunday resulted in one DUI arrest.
Houze said area motorists will begin to see more patrols and sobriety checkpoints as the weather turns warmer.
The ISP Versailles District includes Bartholomew, Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland Counties.
