Record-Setting Performances Highlight ORVC Report for Jan. 5-10

Five earned weekly honors from the ORVC.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - Five student athletes have earned weekly honors from the Ohio River Valley Conference. 

The ORVC Report for January 5-10 was released on Wednesday. 

Rising Sun's Max Mossburger, Shawe Memorial's Matthew Vaughn and Switzerland County's Piper Taylor are the Swim Performers of the Week. Mossburger and Vaughn both earned weekly honors after breaking respective school records. 

Mossburger set new Rising Sun records in the 200 and 500 Free events, while Vaughn set new Shawe Memorial records in the 100 Fly and 100 Back. Taylor had strong performances in the 200 and 500 Free events. 

The ORVC Boys Basketball Player of the Week went to Gabe Riehle. The Milan star totaled 46 points and 12 rebounds in two games at the Ripley County Tournament. 

Switzerland County's Lauren Smith is the ORVC Girls Basketball Player of the Week. Smith put up 35 points, 21 rebounds, four assists and four steals in two games at the Rivertown Classic.
