Week 1 of the season is here.
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Football Coaches Association recently announced their 2024 Preseason Coaches Poll.
In Class 5A, East Central begins the season ranked #5. The Trojans received one first place vote in their new classification. Decatur Central, last year’s runner-up in 5A, begins the season at #1. Merrillville, Valparaiso, and Whiteland all check in ahead of the Trojans.
Lawrenceburg is ranked 7th in Class 3A after an 8-3 campaign a year ago. Batesville, the reigning Sectional 30 champions, start the season outside the top 10, but did receive votes.
State runner-up Heritage Hills is the top team in 3A.
In Class 1A, Milan is ranked 9th.
North Judson is the pre-season #1 team in Class 1A. #3 Providence is on Milan’s schedule this season and #6 North Decatur potentially looms in the postseason.
