(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - One of Dearborn County’s last living World War II veterans was honored at the State Convention.
George Klopp Sr. was inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame on Friday.
Klopp has been a member of the organization for 82 years.
The honor comes after he celebrated his 99th birthday in April.
Klopp's military career began when he joined the U.S. Navy in June of 1944. He was only 18 when he was shipped overseas for a total of 22 months. He was awarded with The World War II Victory Medal, The Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and The American Area Campaign Medal.
He is one of four living World War II veterans in Dearborn County. The others are George Lingg, Clarence Cook and JC Lewis.
