Woman Charged With Reckless Homicide In Jail

Vickie Holdcraft

Dearborn County Sheriff's Dept.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The woman who allegedly left her sister to rot in a chair for three weeks is now in police custody.

Vickie Holdcraft was indicted on Friday, February 3 by a Dearborn County Grand Jury on charges including Reckless Homicide, Neglect of a Dependant, and Perjury.

Holdcraft, 58, was booked into the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center at about 4:30 Monday afternoon.

No bond amount had been set. Holdcraft will likely make her initial appearance in court sometime this week.

Holdcraft’s sister, Priscilla “Pody” Frieberger, died last October 2 after EMTs found her stuck to a cloth recliner in the home the sisters shared  at 661 Wilson Creek Road in Lawrenceburg. The chair had to be removed at nearby Dearborn County Hospital, where the 61-year-old died soon afterwards.

The cause of Frieberger’s death was determined to be a combination of pneumonia and blood poisoning. Frieberger also had ten times the therapeutic level of the painkiller Tramadol in her system.

Prosecutors said Holdcraft, an employee of the Dearborn County Health Department, was supposed to be the caretaker of her obese and disabled sister.
