AUDIO: VOA Opener Max Geers Talks Festival Experience, Being a Hometown Kid

The Cincinnati native played his first VOA Country Music Fest last Thursday

(West Chester, Oh.) - Cincinnati native Max Geers was the first act to grace the stage at the 4th annual VOA Country Music Fest last Thursday. 

He did not just pick up and leave after his performance, however. On Sunday, he took a little time to hang out with Eagle Country 99.3 to talk about his VOA experience. 

"It was phenomenal. It was so much fun. First three minutes my nerves were through the roof, and the crowd was kind of there with me. They definitely let me slip into what I needed to do and try to be the best act I could be," said Geers. "The support they brought on Thursday night for me and just being a hometown kid that got this huge opportunity to kickoff this beautiful event, it was amazing."

Geers tells Eagle Country 99.3 that a lot of his music stems from how he grew up and the heartbreak he has gone through. 

"I grew up in the river, the Little Miami, jumping off bridges and catching snakes and making up our own games in the woods, which is kind of one of my songs, a lot of my songs. I got a lot of music that is heartbreaking music. I lost my brother a couple month back and lost my best friend back in the day. Everybody has gone through stuff and we just all got to be there to support each other and honor them," Gears added.

Up next, Geers will be performing at Covington Oktoberfest on October 12.
