(Vevay, Ind.) - Ranked opponents squared off on Thursday night for an ORVC Championship.
The 7th ranked Switzerland County Lady Pacers traveled to #13 Shawe Memorial, where they defeated the previously unbeaten Lady Hilltoppers by a score of 2-1.
Switzerland County played on the front foot for the first 40 minutes, outshooting Shawe 10-2. However, the match remained scoreless at halftime. Just over a minute into the second half, the Emma South found the back of the net for the Pacers. She added a second goal moments later. Taylor Kappes and Aubrey Craig assisted.
Shawe Memorial scored a goal late, but the Pacers held them off for the 2-1 victory and the ORVC Championship.
Switzerland County has won eight straight ORVC Championships. The Lady Pacers are now 11-4-1 (5-0 in ORVC) on the season, and will open up State Tournament play on Monday, October 5 when they travel to Rising Sun to take on the Lady Shiners. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
