(Greendale, Ind.) - The Greendale Middle School cross country season will culminate Saturday at the State Championship.
Six runners will make the trip to Terre Haute Saturday, October 3 for the Indiana Middle School Cross Country State Championship.
Liam Reade, Jude Noppert, Jude Noppert, and Jack Berry all posted individual qualifying times for a trip to the state championship. Improvements to their overall team time throughout the season also surpassed the state standard, allowing Emery Ricketts and Malakai Hughes to make the trip to state to compete as a team.
The long girl on the team, Ava Shelton, moved to 1st on the GMS all-time girls list (12:16), and took 3rd overall at conference and qualified for state.
GMS' success comes after four 8th graders, who ranked 2nd through 5th in school history, moved to high school, and the top runner in school history transferred out of the school.
Along the way, Liam Reade collected two individual race wins. As a team, GMS claimed victory at a very competitive South Dearborn Invitational for a 3rd straight year.
The boys team finished 4th in the EIAC Championship with Liam Reade (4th), Jude Noppert (7th), Jack Berry (21st), and Emery Ricketts (24th) claiming top 25 spots in a crowded field.
Other season highlights include Jude Noppert jumping to 8th all-time, and Liam Reade moving to 6th all-time.
The GMS Cross Country team is coached by Justin Noppert.
