(Boone County, Ky.) – The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has released details regarding multiple accidents that shutdown I-75 on Monday night.

Deputies responded to the first crash involving four vehicles at approximately 6:33 p.m. near the Richwood Road exit.

While responding, deputies learned that a second collision occurred at the same location which caused the death of one person.

The first collision occurred when Joseph York, 41, of Newport, lost control of his vehicle on the I-75 overpass due to icy conditions. York traveled into the left emergency lane and attempted to regain control when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Phillip Latham, 70, of Loveland, Ohio.

The impact caused York’s vehicle to collide with two others.

Within 10 minutes of the crash, Latham attempted to run across I-75 in the direction of the other three vehicles when he was struck by a vehicle operated by Nathaniel Carmony, 43, of Hebron.

Latham was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

At 8:41 p.m., deputies were dispatched to an accident with extrication on northbound I-75 just north of Walton.

This accident involved four vehicles and caused the death of one person and life-threatening injuries to another.

Deputies say Angelina Christoe, 19, of St. Augustine, Florida was traveling in the center lane and began slowing due to traffic in front of her slowing to a stop, when her vehicle was rear ended by a vehicle driven by Ana Najera Perez, 35, of Union.

The collision caused Christoe’s vehicle to enter the left-hand land where she was sideswiped by an oncoming vehicle drive by Trevor McElfresh, 23, of Brooksville, Kentucky. That impact caused a fourth vehicle to be involved.

Two passengers were ejected from Christoe’s vehicle, Linda Hendricks, 70, and Ryan Christoe, 22.

Hendricks was pronounced dead at the scene and Christoe was transferred to UC Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Three others sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies do not believe roadway conditions, speed or intoxication were contribution factors in this collision.
