Rising Star Casino has operated in Rising Sun since 1996.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – A legislative compromise could keep Rising Star Casino in Rising Sun.
The Senate and the House both drafted bills this legislative session involving the relocation of Rising Star Casino.
Senate Bill 70 aimed to move the gaming operations to a casino in Allen County or Fort Wayne, while House Bill 1038 would allow the relocation of Rising Star Casino to Allen, DeKalb, Steuben, or Wayne County.
The language of House Bill 1038 has changed from relocating Rising Star Casino to awarding a new riverboat license for an inland casino in Allen, DeKalb, or Steuben County.
“There is currently one piece of legislation pending that may impact our city (HB1038). However, that legislation no longer includes the relocation of the Ohio County gaming license. As such, we anticipate that Rising Star Casino will continue operating in our community for the foreseeable future,” reads a statement from Rising Sun Mayor Steve Slack.
Rising Star Casino has operated in Rising Sun since 1996.
