UPDATE: Six Injured In US 50 Crash, Driver Cited

A driver was cited for running a red light and causing a crash on U.S. 50 in Greendale Friday morning.

 

Greendale Police Sgt. Kevin Turner said the accident happened at about 11:09 when Nicholas Haugh, 28, of Dillsboro, was driving a 1999 GMC pickup truck pulling a trailer westbound and ran the red light at Rudolph Way.

 

Rhonda Leake, 52, of Burlington, Ky., had a green light as she was turning left from Rudolph Way onto U.S. 50 when her 2001 Ford F-250 pickup was struck by Haugh’s truck, Turner said.

 

Leake, passenger Rebecca Fleek, 31, of Florence, and Fleek’s four children riding in the truck all suffered non-life threatening injuries. They were transported by Dearborn County Hospital by ambulance.

 

Haugh was not injured.

 

Turner said Haugh was cited for Disregarding a Traffic Control Device and Displaying an Expired License Plate.

 

Leake was given a Child Restraint Violation citation.

 

No drugs or alcohol are suspected in the accident.

 

U.S. 50 was closed for 40 minutes.

 

Greendale Police were assisted at the scene by Greendale Fire and EMS, Lawrenceburg Police, and Lawrenceburg Fire & EMS.

 

 

 

Update posted at 12:11 p.m.:

 

At least two people were transported to Dearborn County Hospital following a crash on U.S. 50 in Greendale Friday morning.

 

Two vehicles were involved in a crash at the intersection with Rudolph Way at about 11:15 a.m.

 

U.S. 50 reopened to traffic in both directions at about noon.

 

The accident remains under investigation by the Greendale Police Department. Names and conditions of the victims have not been released.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – U.S. 50 near Rudolph Way in Greendale is closed in both directions following a serious accident.

 

The two-vehicle crash occurred about 11:15 Friday morning. At least one person was said to be trapped in a vehicle. Injuries did occur.
