The Sgt. Chad Keith Legacy Fund aims to provide support for educational experiential field trips.

(Ripley County, Ind.) - The Ripley County Community Foundation is proud to announce the establishment of the Sgt. Chad Keith Legacy Fund, created in memory of Chad who served our country and was killed in the line of duty.
Sergeant Keith served in the United States Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom with Company D, 2nd Battalion, 325th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina as a gunner. On July 7, 2003, when on mounted patrol in Baghdad, he was killed when a bomb exploded on the roadside. Sgt. Keith is laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery where every year, the Batesville Middle School 8th grade class shows their respect for Chad’s sacrifice and visit his grave during their annual trip to Washington D.C.
The Sgt. Chad Keith Legacy Fund aims to provide support for educational experiential field trips offered through the middle schools located in the City of Batesville, IN with preference to be given to support the Batesville Middle School’s 8th grade field trip to Washington DC.
“Civics education plays a vital role in fostering informed and engaged citizens. By visiting historical sites and learning about the foundations of our democracy, students can gain a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by veterans like Sgt. Keith”, stated Amy Streator, Executive Director of the Ripley County Community Foundation.
