Report: Lawrenceburg Ranks as 28th Most Expensive City in Indiana

doxo has released their 2023 U.S. Bill Pay Market Size & Category Breakout Report.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – How much do you pay each month on household bills?

According to the 2023 U.S. Bill Pay Market Size & Category Breakout Report, Americans spend a total of $3.87 trillion annually on household bills. The report also found that the average American household spends approximately $2,046 a month, or $24,557 per year on the ten most essential household items.

The most common household bills include mortgage, rent, auto loan, utilities, auto insurance, mobile phone, cable and internet, health insurance, life insurance, and alarm and security.

The report shows that Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio residents spend much less per month than most of the rest of the country.

  • Kentucky (47th) - $998 per month
  • Indiana (46th) - $1,005 per month
  • Ohio (43rd) - $1,090 per month

By comparison, Californians spend $2,402 on household spend per month.

In addition to the nation insights, doxo included spend information for one local city, Lawrenceburg.

The average Lawrenceburg household pays $1,862 per month, or $22,340 a year for the 10 most common household bills. That’s up 5.5 percent from last year.

Still, expenses in Lawrenceburg, on average, are 9.9 percent lower than the national average.

The report shows that Lawrenceburg is the 28th most expensive city in Indiana for household bills.

By county, Dearborn is the 6th most expensive in Indiana. Ripley County ranks 24th, followed by Franklin County at 31st. Ohio and Switzerland counties did not make the list, which only featured 82 of Indiana’s 92 counties.

The data, which doxo has for Lawrenceburg as well as 4,000 cities across the United States, looks at total amount spent on bills per month, and also breaks down bill payments into ten different categories, including utilities, auto loans, cable bills, and more.
