Red Cross Opens Client Assistance Centers

(Cincinnati, Oh.) - Red Cross assistance continues in the Greater Cincinnati-Dayton Region as tornado clean-up efforts progress.

Eight Red Cross emergency relief vehicles are circulating in affected areas serving hot meals and snacks. Red Cross workers are also handing out relief supplies like clean up kits, rakes, shovels and work gloves.

Beginning 10:00 am tomorrow, Red Cross caseworkers will be meeting one-one-one with disaster victims to provide access to resources and tools to support the recovery process, and in some cases, the means to help replace essential items like clothing and household goods. Additionally, Red Cross has several distribution centers, in place of shelters, to assist affected residents with clean up efforts.

In just the past week, more than 100 Red Cross volunteers including individuals from Dayton, Columbus, and Troy, Ohio, have provided help to disaster victims. To date, the Red Cross has provided approximately 6,000 meals/snacks and over 215 comfort kits.

The Red Cross has received generous in-kind support from partners including Cincinnati Hilton Hotel, Center Bank, Coca Cola, Convergys, Duke Energy, Fifth Third Bank, George Fern Company, Hil-Rom, Home Depot, Ikea, Kroger, LaRosa’s Pizza, and Walmart.
