(Ripley County, Ind.) - Genesis: Pathways to Success, an initiative of the Ripley County Community Foundation that develops career pathways and supports STEM programs in Ripley County, is pleased to announce it has received a grant from the Shopko Foundation. These funds will support the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest aimed to foster innovation and an interest in engineering in students.

The Shopko Foundation granted a check to Genesis: Pathways to Success during a check presentation ceremony that took place on November 12, 2018 at the Batesville Shopko store. Amy Streator, Executive Director, Ripley County Community Foundation and Cheryll Obendorf Director of Genesis: Pathways to Success, were present to receive the check.

Genesis: Pathways to Success works to develop programs in areas such as engineering, agriculture, health science, and technology to allow Indiana’s next generation of innovators to flourish in our community. The Rube Goldberg Machine Contest will help support Genesis: Pathways to Success’s mission of working with local business leaders, community leaders, and educators to create, sustain, and build a solid framework of career pathways that lead to success and an enriched quality of life for our citizens.

“The ShopKo Foundation’s grant will provide local students with an opportunity to put what they have learned in the classroom into practice, establishing that they have the education and skills necessary to enter the workforce upon completion of High School, or after obtaining a higher education degree,” said Cheryll Obendorf, Director of GPS

The Shopko Foundation believes in providing “the stuff that counts®” and enhancing the lives of neighbors in every community that Shopko serves. The Shopko Foundation supports accredited schools and 501(c)3 organizations with grants that are awarded throughout the year for programs that further the Foundation’s purpose of promoting the health and education of Shopko’s teammates and customers.
