NASHVILLE - Rachel Holt is celebrating the one-year anniversary of her breakout hit "I Was Gonna Be" with the release of a new acoustic rendition.
Filmed live in-studio, the stripped-down version showcases Rachel’s raw vocals and heartfelt delivery, accompanied by multi-platinum songwriter Chris Wallin — the original writer of the song — on acoustic guitar.
Originally released on June 21, 2024, “I Was Gonna Be” soared to #5 on the iTunes Country chart and hit #1 on the iTunes country music video rankings. The pro-life ballad, written from the perspective of an unborn child, was first unveiled during Tim Pool’s Timcast IRL and dropped in coordination with National Celebrate Life Weekend — days before the anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
Backed by Baste Records and launched in partnership with Patriot Mobile, the new acoustic version marks a full-circle moment for Holt — now 19 — as she reflects on a year of momentum, boldness, and breaking through with a message few her age are willing to sing.
