(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens say she will seek life without parole sentences for the couple accused of murdering Faith Craig and Walter Bryant, Jr.

It has been almost one year since Cody Wayne Booth and his girlfriend, Margie Lynn Thompson, allegedly murdered Booth’s mother and grandfather in the Aurora home they shared. On January 17, 2018, investigators say, the two suspects woke up “dope sick” and desperate for drugs. Allegedly, Booth held Craig down in a chair while Thompson stabbed her to death. Booth then pushed Bryant down a flight of basement stairs before he was fatally stabbed.

The two allegedly stole money and items from the home, including Bryant’s Purple Hearts from his military service in Vietnam, before going to purchase drugs. They were taken into custody in southern Kentucky a day later.

On Thursday, Deddens filed amended charges against Booth and Thompson, including a notice of intent to seek a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

“After sitting down with the victim’s family and listening to what they would like to see happen in this case, and reviewing all the evidence that has been gathered, I felt that these additional charges, and the request for a sentence of life without parole was appropriate as to both Cody Booth and Margie Thompson,” said Deddens.

The prosecutor says the death penalty was on the table until this decision was made.

Booth and Thompson were initially charged last year with two counts of each charge including Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.

On Thursday, prosecutors filed additional charges of Criminal Confinement, Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Confinement and Conspiracy to Commit Murder. The two will be back in court soon for their initial hearing on those new charges.

According to the notice of intent to seek life imprisonment, Booth was on parole in Kentucky at the time of the murders.

The two are currently scheduled to go to a joint trial in Dearborn Circuit Court on March 4. They each remain in jail without bond at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.
