Hundreds have signed the petition.

(Versailles, Ind.) – Hundreds of concerned citizens have signed an online petition aimed at preserving Versailles State Park Lake for future generations.
Organizers of the petition say that the lack of adequate funding and maintenance have put the lake at risk.
“The lake and dam have not received the required maintenance needed to ensure it remains clean, safe, and sustainable for activities such as fishing, non-motorized boating, and a home to treasured wildlife observation,” reads a portion of the petition.
Petitioners are pushing for immediate action to allocate necessary funds to maintain and preserve the lake and its surrounding areas.
The goal is investing in necessary repairs, regular upkeep and improvement projects that will enhance the park’s offerings, promote sustainable tourism, and ensure a healthy environment for future generations.
