(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Dearborn County law enforcement will undergo training for stopping one of the worst emergencies imaginable, an active shooter in a school.

The Swift Assisted Victim Extraction, or S.A.V.E., training exercise will be at Lawrenceburg High School on Saturday, February 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Every police, fire, and EMS department in the county is being asked to participate.

“Our intention in conjunction with our sister agencies is to implement a standards county-wide joint coordinated response in the event of an active shooter,” said a notification from the Lawrenceburg Police Department.

About 50 volunteers are needed to act as victims for the staged event. Contact the Lawrenceburg Police Department at (812) 537-2284 if you want to help out.

Area law enforcement participated in a similar exercise at South Dearborn Middle School in December.
