(Greendale, Ind.) - A man is accused of exposing himself to two female lifeguards at the Greendale Pool.

A police investigation also shows that parents of children at the public pool had concerns about Steven D. Bachmann, 52, of Greendale.

On two separate occasions between July 2 and 23, Bachmann went to the pool and told the female lifeguards that children were causing issues in the men’s bathroom, according to a court affidavit filed by investigators with Greendale Police. The female guards each time went to see about the complaint.

The lifeguards told police that on both occasions they had announced several times that they were about to enter the men’s bathroom. After hearing no response, the lifeguards would enter the restroom and shower area only to see Steven Bachman allegedly exposing himself to them.

As the investigation continued, police were told by lifeguards that there have been complaints from parents at the pool regarding Bachmann’s behavior. The lifeguards said Bachmann has been using a raft and floating up to children. He would have the children hang onto the raft and talk to them, investigators wrote in the affidavit.

During questioning, Bachmann told police that he goes to the Greendale Pool almost every day. On his Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center booking sheet, Bachmann noted that he is on disability.

The 52-year-old denied the accusations of the female lifeguards. According to the affidavit, he told investigators that he had been seen naked once by one of the lifeguards, but only after the lifeguard had only announced her entrance one time and entered the restroom quickly before he could get dressed. Bachmann ended the questioning after advising he wanted to speak with an attorney.

Bachmann has been charged with two counts of Public Nudity (Class A misdemeanor). He was arrested Friday but has since been released on bond.

During his initial hearing, Dearborn Superior Court II Judge Sally Blankenship ordered Bachmann to have no contact with either of the female lifeguards or the Greendale Pool. A bench trial or pre-trial hearing is scheduled for September 10.

Bachmann’s attorney, Alan Miller, declined to comment on the case.
