Pedestrian Killed in State Road 1 Crash

(St. Leon, Ind.) – The victim of a fatal crash on State Road 1 has been identified.

Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 28000 block of State Road 1 on Tuesday night where a pedestrian was struck by a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that Daniel Bischoff, 68, of St. Leon, was traveling south when a pedestrian attempted to cross the road and walked out in front of Bischoff’s vehicle.

The pedestrian, Walter Powell, received treatment at the scene and was transferred to UC Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Powell, a Brookville native, was 57.

No further details have been released.
