(Rising Sun, Ind.) - The Ohio County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2026 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for Ohio County is Margaret (Maggie) Mossburger of Rising Sun High School. Lilly Endowment Community Scholars are known for their community involvement,
academic achievement, character, and leadership. Maggie is the daughter of Dan and Jennifer Mossburger of Rising Sun.

“Maggie is a very active and involved student. Her application, interview, academics, leadership roles, community service, extra-curriculars and work experience were extremely impressive to the Scholarship Committee,” said Jane Angst, Executive Director of the Ohio County Community Foundation.

Each Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship provides for full tuition, required fees and a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and required equipment for four years. The scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students leading to a baccalaureate degree at any eligible Indiana public or private nonprofit college or university. Lilly Endowment Community Scholars may also participate in the Lilly Scholars Network (LSN), which connects both current scholars and alumni with resources and opportunities to be active leaders on their campuses and in their communities. Both the scholarship program and LSN are supported by grants from Lilly Endowment to Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) and Indiana Humanities.

“I am planning to pursue a career in Nursing and specialize as an Anesthesiologist so that I can help make patients comfortable. I hope to sign with a hospital to help with future education and costs,” said Maggie Mossburger, Lilly Endowment Community Scholar, during her interview with the OCCF Scholarship Selection Committee.

In determining Ohio County’s Lilly Endowment Community Scholar nominees, consideration was given to academics, extra-curricular activities and community service by the Ohio County Community Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee. After the field of applicants was narrowed down,
nominees were submitted to ICI, the statewide administrator of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program, which approves the final selection of scholarship recipients.

“As always, we had an excellent group of applicants from which to select our Ohio County Lilly Scholarship recipient. Living in such a small community, we are fortunate to have so many quality applicants. Congratulations to our four semi-finalists Morgan Esposito, Olivia Graver, Reese Merica and Eliana Titkemeyer. Best of luck to each of you!” said Jane Angst, Executive Director of the Ohio County Community Foundation
