(Versailles, Ind.) - Multiple agencies responded to Hopewell Road on Monday for a report of a gasoline tank on fire near a structure.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a leaking gasoline tank with the leaking gasoline on fire. Firefighters worked quickly to get the fire under control and prevent it from spreading the to nearby structure.
Due to recurring fire from the vapors in the gravel area, Osgood Fire was dispatched to the scene for additional foam concentrate. Napoleon Fire provided additional hazmat control materials, and Aurora Fire provided a firefighter rehab bus.
Other departments on the scene include Ripley County EMA and Ripley County EMS.
After further investigation, a large amount of gasoline was located in a nearby waterway. Firefighters constructed dams to control and contain the spill.
No injuries were reported.
