(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Detectives from the Dearborn County Special Crimes Unit, West Chester (Ohio) Police Department, Ada County (Idaho) Sheriff’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in St. Louis have concluded a joint, multi-state investigation into a large, organized group responsible for a series of pharmacy burglaries targeting rural communities.
The investigation began in June 2025 following a burglary at George’s Pharmacy in Bright, Indiana. Investigators from Dearborn County and West Chester quickly identified a pattern of similar burglaries occurring across the tri-state area within a two-day span, leading authorities to suspect an organized group focused on stealing narcotics.
As the investigation expanded, detectives linked the group to a string of 10 pharmacy burglaries that occurred between Cincinnati and St. Louis in July 2024. Since January 2024, investigators have attributed approximately 72 burglaries across 12 states to this organization, identifying roughly 25 individuals believed to be key participants.
In November and December 2025, Dearborn County, West Chester and DEA authorities began tracking the individuals in the group. Surveillance efforts initiated in December led to significant developments when two suspects traveled to Ohio and subsequently committed three burglaries in Indiana. Investigators gathered critical intelligence regarding the group’s methods, distribution of stolen pharmaceuticals, and operational structure. Investigators identified shipping methods and intercepted approximately 8 pounds of stolen pharmaceuticals.
The suspects returned to the region in early February 2026, committing two additional burglaries. Following these incidents, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop, during which the suspects fled. Four individuals were apprehended shortly thereafter. Subsequent search warrants resulted in the seizure of substantial evidence, including 11 cellular phones, approximately 21 pounds of pharmaceuticals, a pill-counting machine, and other materials linked to the criminal operation.
Parallel investigative efforts by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office connected several western U.S. burglaries to the same organization, further strengthening the multi-state case. In mid-February, investigators from the DEA, Ada County Sheriff’s Office, West Chester Police Department and Dearborn County presented the case to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois. Following a comprehensive review, prosecutors moved forward with the first round of federal indictments.
A federal grand jury has since returned a true bill, and arrest warrants have been issued for four individuals associated with the organization. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and sealed indictments, the names of the suspects are not being released at this time. Additional indictments are anticipated, with investigators preparing to present further cases involving additional individuals.
“This case represents an extraordinary level of coordination between local, state, and federal partners,” “The scale and sophistication of this organization required a sustained, collaborative effort to disrupt and dismantle.” “Detectives Ken Baker (Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office) and Rodney Rimstidt with the Dearborn County Special Crimes Unit did an outstanding job and played a vital role in this case. “
