(Greendale, Ind.) - Tri-state residents will get to honor Army Private Brett Bondurant on Monday, and this time he will be there in person.

Bondurant arrived home in Greendale over this past weekend. It is the 21-year-old's first time back since he lost both legs in an IED explosion while serving in Afghanistan on September 28.

The City of Lawrenceburg has declared Monday "Brett Bondurant Day."

The events to honor Bondurant begin with a public convocation at Lawrenceburg High School at 2:00 p.m. where Bondurant may speak. The ceremony is followed by a parade through downtown Lawrenceburg.

The day ends with a meet-and-greet at the Lawrenceburg American Legion on Front Street from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Motorists in Lawrenceburg should expect possible traffic delays and back ups downtown between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m. due to the festivities and parade, said Lawrenceburg Deputy Fire Chief Johnnie Tremain.

The community is being asked to wear red, white, and blue in Brett’s honor today.

Eagle 99.3 will have all the events covered.
