(Milan, Ind.) - The Milan Elementary School Spell Bowl traveled to Ohio County Elementary on November 13 to compete in the 2023 Indiana Academic Spell Bowl competition.
The event is sponsored by the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP).
Milan competed in the Yellow Division which means their team only had 4th graders. The students were provided 750 words ranging from afraid to Zambezi River.
They placed first in their division at the competition. Statewide, they placed 34th out 63 teams that competed around the state.
The team had eight spellers and two alternates and were coached by Shelby Rowland.
