(Milan, Ind.) - Milan Elementary School students are participating in the Great Kindness Challenge during the week of January 22.
The Great Kindness Challenge is a bullying prevention program that improves school climate and increases student engagement. The Great Kindness Challenge is one week devoted to performing as many acts of kindness as possible at school. School counselor, Michelle McKittrick, will present a Lunch and Learn on Kindness to students. Also, throughout the week, staff will be handing out "Kindness citations" to students who are caught being kind.
Students are invited to participate in the theme of the day and are challenged to perform a different kindness act each day.
- Monday - Be the Sunshine - Wear Yellow. Challenge - Make eye contact and SMILE with at least 10 people.
- Tuesday - Team KINDNESS - Wear a sports shirt. Challenge - Encourage or cheer on at least 5 people today.
- Wednesday - POWERED by kindness - Wear superhero shirts. Challenge - Compliment at least 5 people today.
- Thursday - Cheerful and kind - Wear tie-dye or bright colors. Challenge - Say "good morning" to at least 5 people today.
- Friday - MES chooses kindness - Wear black and gold. Challenge - Say "thank you" as much as possible today.
