(Batesville, Ind.) - Dr. Tim Putnam, President and Chief Executive Officer for Margaret Mary Health, announced today his resignation effective August 31, 2021. Putnam has served as hospital CEO since 2009.

George Junker, Chair of the MMH Board of Directors, announced that Liz Leising has been named Interim CEO. Leising has served as the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Services at MMH since 2016.

“I have had the privilege to serve this organization and community for more than 12 years, including the most challenging, dynamic year the healthcare industry has ever experienced,” Putnam said. “It has been a sincere pleasure to work with such an incredible team of caregivers, providers and leaders who demonstrate on a daily basis their commitment to quality patient care and service excellence.”

After 38 years in hospital operations, including 19 years as a CEO, Putnam says he now has the opportunity to pursue interests in healthcare education, policy and rural health advocacy. “Stepping down from my current role will afford me the chance to explore new career opportunities while finishing out my work with President Biden’s COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force.”

“The entire Board of Directors is deeply appreciative of Tim’s many contributions and the positive impact he’s had on the delivery of healthcare services in our own community and far beyond,” Junker said. “Under his leadership, we have launched important new programs such as our behavioral health and addictions program, and have developed stronger regional partnerships, including those with The Christ Hospital, University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Marian University. Tim has been instrumental in elevating Margaret Mary Health’s reputation and prominence across the state and nation.”

Junker continued, “We wish Tim all the best as he embarks on this next chapter of an already distinguished career; and we look forward to working with Liz and the leadership team as they continue their efforts to care for the communities we serve.”

Leising said she is honored for the opportunity to serve in a new leadership role. “I am excited to continue down the path that Tim has forged during his tenure here. It’s my goal to ensure Margaret Mary Health remains one of the top-performing rural hospitals in the country.”
