(Franklin County, Ind.) - A day of riding ATVs with friends turned deadly in Franklin County Sunday.
Indiana Conservation Officers say Middletown, Ohio resident Marc Boetger was riding an ATV on private property near Sanes Creek Road and Barger Road in northwest Franklin County shortly after 1:00 p.m.
Those friends did not see the accident, but investigators believe Boetger drove his ATV uphill when it rolled back on top of him. Boetger’s head and neck were pinned, causing serious injury.
Immediate efforts by friends to revive Boetger were not successful. Friends alerted the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department by calling 911 via cell phone.
Investigators were told that Boetger had considerable experience riding ATVs. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in Hamilton, Ohio.
