Local Students to Compete at Indiana Robotics State Championship

Five elementary and two middle school teams will travel to Indianapolis for the competition on Saturday.

INDIANAPOLIS – Seven robotics teams from Eagle Country will compete at the 2023 Indiana Robotics State Championship on Saturday.

The event will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis.

The competition will be the largest state championship in the country with over 350 robotics teams from elementary, middle and high schools across the state set to compete.

Locally, the following teams will compete in the Elementary Vex IQ Competition (School – Team Name):

  • Milan Elementary – The Cool Kids
  • Jefferson Craig Elementary School – Riverbotics
  • Central Elementary School – CES Robotic Tigers
  • Manchester Elementary School – Manchester Shiners 1
  • Manchester Elementary School – Manchester Shiners 2

Elementary qualification matches begin at 10:15 a.m. and continue until 5:00 p.m. The IQ State Championship matches will follow at 5:15.

VEX IQ Elementary has 130 teams attending state. There will be 47 performance awards and 24 judged awards resulting in 71 teams receiving the listed World Qualifying Awards. An additional 13 teams will be invited to Worlds from the skills standings.

Middle School Vex IQ Competition

  • Milan Middle/Intermediate School – The Hydras
  • Milan Middle/Intermediate School – The No Elbow Gang

Middle school qualification matches being at 10:15 a.m. and continue until 4:30 p.m. The IQ State Championship matches will follow at 4:45.

There are 100 teams competing in the Middle School Vex IQ Competition. The number of World spots awarded is 52.

The Indiana Robotics State Championship is free to attend.
