(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A downtown Lawrenceburg business is raising a glass in honor of a fallen military veteran. The Captain’s Tavern, located at 1 W. High Street in Lawrenceburg, will be collecting donations in the memory and honor of local veteran, Specialist Zachary Salmon, who was killed in action in January of 2011. Salmon served in the 132nd Cavalry. The idea for a donation drive came after Zach’s mother, Renee Cross, visited The Captain’s Tavern on the anniversary of her son’s death. After her visit, bar employee and former veteran Josh Caseltine helped make a shadow box in Salmon's memory that reads, “raise your glass in a toast to an American hero!” The Captain's Tavern will be collecting donations for the Wounded Warrior Project beginning Monday, February 20 through Saturday, February 25.
