(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Three weekends of drink sales at downtown Lawrenceburg events will allow the Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg to continue serving area youth as it has for 98 years.

“Members of the Kiwanis Club volunteer often in our effort to help children thrive, prosper and grow,” said Larry Campbell, president, Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg. “We know kids need Kiwanis, in our community and in communities around the world.”

Members of the Club partnered with the Lawrenceburg High School Key Club to operate a beverage booth at Lawrenceburg’s Taste of Summer Festival and Fall Music Fest, as well as the Southeast Indiana Musicians Association’s Whiskey City Summer Fest. Campbell said the project was selected upon request of Lawrenceburg Main Street to help make the downtown events successful. Kiwanis thanks the City of Lawrenceburg, Lawrenceburg Main Street, and LHS Key Club members and sponsor Matthew Gravett.

The funds raised will allow the Kiwanis Club to fund four scholarships for Lawrenceburg High School graduates in the class of 2022. Scholarship applications are available from a Kiwanis Club member or through the Dearborn Community Foundation at www.dearborncf.org/scholarships/s_kiwanis.

Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg also sponsors the Lawrenceburg High School Key Club and Keith’s Comfort Blankets for newborns at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital.

Don Siemers who has been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg for more than 40 years, said the club is always welcoming new members. The club holds a lunch meeting each Tuesday, 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Zion Church, 340 Walnut Street, Lawrenceburg.

“Join us and find out if Kiwanis is right for you,” said Siemers. “We have a great time and enjoy planning our fundraisers, too. Our meetings often feature a speaker or incorporate some of the youth programs we sponsor.”
