Kentucky State Police Investigating Shooting Death in Carroll County

The incident took place at a gun store on Whites Run Road.

(Carroll County, Ky.) – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a shooting death that occurred in Carroll County on Saturday night.

The shooting occurred at a gun store on Whites Run Road.

Upon arrival, KSP personnel located the victim inside the store undergoing treatment by EMS for a gunshot wound.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a customer in the store was viewing a firearm for sale and manipulating it when a single round discharged, striking the victim who was also in the store.

Other store patrons immediately attempted life-saving measures and the victim was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Chad Wainscott, 50, of Worthville, Kentucky.

The individual in physical control of the firearm at the time it discharged is cooperating with investigators, and witnesses at the scene have been interviewed.

No foul play is suspected, and no charges are pending at this time.
