(Ripley County, Ind.) – An upcoming culvert replacement project will close a portion of State Road 62 near Friendship.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says contractor Sunesis Construction plans to close State Road 62 over Caesar Creek on or after April 1.

The bridge is located approximately five miles east of S.R. 129, just east of Friendship, and is scheduled to close for around four weeks, weather permitting.

Following completion of the bridge project, crews will move to a small structure located west of Friendship between Cave Hill Rd. and Olean Rd., approximately four miles east of S.R. 129. The road is expected to close at the structure in early or mid-May and remain closed for around five weeks for a box culvert replacement. The official detour for both closures will follow S.R. 129 to U.S. 421 to U.S. 50, back to S.R. 62.

The official detour will follow State Road 129 to U.S. 421 to U.S. 50, back to State Road 62.

The project completion date is set for August 31.

INDOT says State Road 62 will be open for the annual Friendship Flea Market and NMLRA National Championship shoots.
