(Delphi, Ind.) - Police in Delphi, Indiana now say they believe the man who killed two teenage girls while they were hiking has close connections to their small town.

The bodies of 14-year-old Liberty "Libby" German and 13-year-old Abigail "Abby" Williams were found in the woods the day after they disappeared back in February of 2017 in Delphi, about 60 miles northwest of Indianapolis.

During a Monday press conference, Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter spoke directly to the man who brutally killed two teenagers two years ago.

“We believe you are hiding in plain sight,” Carter said. “For more than two years, you never thought we would shift gears to a different investigative strategy, but we have.”

Investigators are looking for tips on a vehicle abandoned the day the girls went missing. Video of the killer captured on one of the girls’ phones was shared, as well as more of an audio recording captured on the phone.

A new sketch of the suspect, believed to be between 18- and 40-years-old, has also been released. Carter said he may appear younger than his actual age.

The video, audio, and sketches can be accessed at https://www.in.gov/isp/delphi.htm. Anybody with information should call the case tip line at (844) 459-5786 or email abbyandlibbytip@cacoshrf.com.

"We are confident you have told someone what you have done," Carter said in continuing to speak directly to the killer. "Only a coward would do such a thing. To the murderer, I believe you have just a little bit of a conscience left."
