(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Hoosier deer hunters will get a chance at some new hunting grounds starting next week.
Indiana’s new Deer Hunt Registry opens Monday, July 1. The Deer Hunt Registry system is replacing the former Hunters Helping Farmers program and incorporating the Community Hunter Access Program.
The registry gives hunters a chance to look for deer on private land, parks, and farm fields. It also gives property owners a resource for finding hunters willing to help thin out the deer herd in their area.
Hunters can sign-up at the Indiana Department of Natural Resources' website at on.IN.gov/deerhuntregistry.
The IDNR says being in the registry does not guarantee additional hunting opportunities or placement in a managed hunt.
