(Batesville, Ind.) - For the first time, donor breast milk was provided to a newborn through Margaret Mary Health's partnership with The Milk Bank.
Donor breast milk offers a safe, readily available option for families when maternal milk is not yet available. All approved milk donors are carefully screened to ensure the safety and quality of donated milk.
“When my milk hadn’t come in yet, knowing I still had the option to provide breast milk to Jackson was a comfort,” said new mom Alyssa Taylor. “As a mother, I think it’s amazing we have this option.”
Breast milk is encouraged because it provides important nutrients and antibodies that support a newborn’s growth, immune system and overall health during the earliest days of life.
The service is made possible through the Margaret Mary Health Foundation.
