(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Twenty tubs filled with crayons, pencils, notebooks, folders, and other school supplies will help ensure that Dearborn County’s neediest youngsters head back to school with a full backpack. Eagle 99.3 recently teamed up with Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg to establish the Back to School Supply Drive. Several businesses throughout the county signed up to become donation locations over a nearly three week period this month. The supplies were turned over to administrators with Dearborn County’s three school districts on Monday. The educators from Sunman-Dearborn, South Dearborn, and Lawrenceburg were invited to a luncheon at the riverboat. Hollywood Casino general manager Todd George said the project was about the casino giving back to the community. “The reason this property was brought here in the first place, the reason why gaming was brought to Indiana: to be able to do things like this, to give back to the home dock families and to the schools. We’re investing in the future of not only our employees, but also where we work, live and play,” George said. Eagle 99.3 and Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg thank the following businesses for their participation as school supply drop-off locations: Aurora Utilities, Dearborn County Visitors Center, Fifth Third Bank, Merchants Bank & Trust, United Community Bank, and U.S. Bank. The supplies will be distributed at each school to students based on their need. The school year is only one week away for Lawrenceburg and South Dearborn schools. South Dearborn students return to class on July 30 followed by Lawrenceburg on July 31. Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools hold their first student day on August 6.
