(Harrison, Oh.) – Harrison High School Head Football Coach Kent McCullough is departing the school after six seasons at the helm. McCullough accepted the job as head football coach at Turpin High School in Cincinnati, Ohio on Monday. He formally submitted his resignation to Southwest Local School on Tuesday. Ironically enough, McCullough’s last game at Harrison was a 40-14 loss to Turpin in the first round of the playoffs. The Wildcats finished the 2016-17 season with a record of 6-5. During his time at Harrison, McCullough led the Wildcats to a 39-26 record, including four trips to the Ohio High School Athletic Association playoffs. Aside from winning a lot of ballgames, McCullough’s players also thrived in the classroom where they achieved a 3.09 team GPA during the first quarter of the current school year. The Southwest Board of Education hopes to appoint a new head football coach at its March 16 meeting. A teaching position will be available. Applicants are asked to email a letter of interest, resume and at least five professional references to Harrison Athletic Director Mark Meibers at mark.meibers@southwestschools.org. The application deadline is March 7 at 3:00 p.m.
