The program aims to enhance community beauty one property at a time

(Greendale, Ind.) -  Greendale Main Street is thrilled to announce an opportunity for homeowners to receive up to $500 for curb appeal beautification projects. The Curb Appeal Program is aimed at fostering community pride and enhancing our community's neighborhoods. This reimbursement grant program encourages property owners to invest in the exterior appearance of their homes and contributes to the overall revitalization and beauty of our city. Applications will be accepted during April for Spring projects at www.GreendaleMainStreet.com.

The Curb Appeal Program’s primary objective is to breathe new life into our neighborhoods while increasing property values and boosting Greendale’s appeal. By providing matching funds to property owners for exterior improvements we are creating a collaborative effort to improve our city one front yard at a time.

“The Curb Appeal Program is a testament to Greendale’s commitment to progress and neighborly care,” remarked Greendale Mayor Vince Karsteter. “We believe that when residents take pride in their homes, it resonates throughout the city, leading to positive change and a stronger sense of belonging.”

Greendale Main Street Director, Ryan Goode, shared his enthusiasm stating, “This program shows the power of partnerships between local government, community organizations, and local businesses. Through the Curb Appeal Program, we are not only investing in property improvements but are also fostering a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility for our city’s beauty and appeal.”

Former Greendale Mayor Alan Weiss brought the idea for the program to Main Street after learning about a similar program in Seymour, Indiana. Mayor Weiss, Main Street, and Greendale Redevelopment Commission worked together to recruit donors to help fund the program and have been able to secure funding for 2024 and 2025.

To be eligible for the Curb Appeal Program, participants must own residential properties within Greendale city limits and ensure that their projects are visible from public sidewalks, or street right-of-ways. Applications must be submitted

through the official website of Greendale Main Street at www.greendalemainstreet.com, along with “before” photos, and a project plan. Applications for Spring projects will be accepted during the month of April. Award letters will be sent out the second week of May. If the application is approved, participants will have 6 months to complete the approved work and submit after pictures and receipts for reimbursement. Property owners can receive a reimbursement of up to $500 per property per year (50% of project cost up to $1000).

Greendale residents are invited to participate in enhancing our already vibrant and welcoming community where every property contributes to the city’s beauty. Apply for the Curb Appeal Program today and become a part of the movement toward an even more beautiful and connected Greendale.
