(Osgood, Ind.) – The Ripley County Chamber of Commerce has recognized some of its newest businesses, and a family-owned pharmacy that has been in operation for over 30 years ago. The 19th Annual Business Recognition Luncheon was held on Wednesday afternoon at the Southeastern Indiana REMC Training Center in Osgood. George’s Pharmacy was honored as the Ripley County Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year. Owner and operator George Gillman was on hand to accept the award. Gillman, a graduate of Butler University, began his pharmaceutical career working at Rexall Drugs in Brookville. He purchased the pharmacy in 1985 and continued to provided services to the community under the name George's Family Pharmacy. To date, George’s Pharmacy has six locations in Brookville, Sunman, Versailles, Bright, Milan and Batesville. George plans to open a seventh store in Connersville later this year. Several new Ripley County businesses were recognized at Wednesday’s luncheon including: API Americas, Back 2 Basics Salon LLC, Bird in a Tree Boutique, Chosen Designs, DCH Physical Therapy, George’s Family Pharmacy, German American Bank, Loving Hearts Hospice & Palliative Care, Mac’s Auto Center, Margarita’s Mexican Grill, Monica’s Boutique, The Sherman and Thompson Outdoor Power. Southeastern Indiana Special Olympian Chris Perdue was also honored. The 18-year-old South Ripley High School student took gold in the snowboard advanced giant slalom at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Schladming, Austria on March 21.
