(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A local coffee shop run by folks with intellectual and developmental disabilities marks its second anniversary Wednesday.
The Friendly Bean Café at the Lawrenceburg Public Library will mark the occasion with a barbecue. The celebration runs from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Lawrenceburg Public Library courtyard.
In addition to the food, guests can play games and enjoy live music.
The Friendly Bean Café is supported by New Horizons Rehabilitation, a Batesville-based non-profit aiding southeastern Indiana’s disabled adults access to life skills programs, community connections, employment services, and residential services.
“The Friendly Bean was created to give individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities employment opportunities,” the organization says.
