(Florence, Ky.) – A Florence man is charged with manslaughter after a person was found deceased in a Bruce Drive front yard.

Phillip F. Alden, 23, of Florence, was taken into custody on Friday and formally charged as the primary suspect in an assault case that resulted in the death of David W. Gregory, 43.

Boone County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 10000 block of Bruce Drive on Friday around 8:30 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies located Gregory deceased in the front yard.

Investigators say Gregory died as result of blunt force trauma to the head during an altercation at Alden’s residence on Greenlawn Avenue.

Alden allegedly admitted that he drove his knee into Gregory’s head and punched him in the face. After the assault, Alden allegedly carried Gregory out of the residence and drove him to his home on Bruce Drive, where he was left lying unresponsive in the front yard.

Alden is charged with Manslaughter 1st Degree (Class B Felony).

He is held at the Boone County Detention Center on $250,000 cash bond.
