(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - New homes sales numbers for southeast Indiana are out from the Indiana Association of Realtors.
Thirty-six detached single family homes, condominiums, and townhomes were sold in Dearborn County in February, an improvement from the 30 sold during the same month in 2011. The median price of $110,770, however, was a decline of 20.7 percent from last year.
Ripley County saw eight homes change owners last month, up from just four in February 2011. This February’s median price of $115,500 was a 100 percent increase from last year.
The housing market was slow through the rest of the region. Switzerland County had three home sales in February. Ohio County had one and Franklin County saw no homes sold last month.
Statewide, home sales increased 20.5 percent to 3,551 in February. The median selling price was up slightly by 0.5 percent to $103,000.
“Our data, combined with the fact that consumer confidence is as high as it has been in a year, points to an active spring and summer,” said Karl Berron, Chief Executive Officer of the Indiana Association of Realtors. “There are still some challenges to work through, but the statewide housing market is on its way to recovery with some local markets leading the charge.”
