UPDATE: Lawrenceburg Man Killed In Burlington Crash

The Boone County Sheriff's Office says alcohol and speed may have been factors.

Update published Friday, February 15:

The motorist killed in a crash in Burlington early Friday morning has been identified as a Lawrenceburg man.

Joseph Sohmer, 36, was westbound on Burlington Pike near the intersection with Aero Parkway around 2:21 a.m. when his 2008 Jaguar S type collided with semi-tractor trailer driven by Stanley Prather, 53, of Hamilton, Ohio.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Sohmer disregarded a red light and t-boned the semi-trailer. Sohmer’s vehicle continued underneath the trailer before exiting the roadway into a nearby grass embankment.

Sohmer, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Prather was not injured in the crash.
