East Central FFA Claims 8th State Title in Last 16 Years

(St. Leon, Ind.) – East Central FFA has captured another state championship.

Twelve East Central students competed in the Indiana FFA Nursery/Landscape Career Development event on April 22 at Franklin Community High School.

The event consisted of general knowledge exam, identification of ornamental plants, pests, diseases, disorders, landscape tools, equipment and supplies, plant potting practicum, verbal customer assistance and a team activity.

The team of Adam Miller, John Kathman, Kylee Starost and Kody Schilling placed first to win the state title.

It is East Central FFA’s eighth state championship in the last 16 years.

It was a clean sweep on the podium for East Central as their other two teams placed second and third.

Julie Rider, Blake Wolf, Jasmin Keith and Bradley Kolb made up the second-place team. The third-place team consisted of Dylan Weaver, Josilyn Tidwell, Aidan Roberts and Dylan Watts.

Kylee Starost was the top individual for the event.  Dylan Watts placed 2nd and Bradley Kolb placed third overall.  

The state winning team will compete in the National FFA Nursery/Landscape Career Development Event in Indianapolis in November.
